Are you Intelligent; I mean Emotionally Intelligent?

 Emotional Intelligence consists of four core areas:

  • Self Awareness-Your ability to recognize your own emotions and how they affect your thoughts and behavior as well as knowing your strengths and weaknesses and gaining self confidence
  • Self Management-Your ability to control impulsive feelings and behaviors as well as manage your emotions in health, constructive ways.  Self Management also involves how you take initiative, follow through on commitments and adapt to change.
  • Social Awareness-Social Awareness considers your ability to understand the emotions, needs and concerns of others as well as picking up on emotional cues of others and your self in social situations and within groups.
  • Relationship Management-RM considers your ability to develop and maintain good relationships, communicate clearly, inspire and influence others, manage conflict and work well with others.

All of these sound pretty basic, but the impact and implications are huge.  These four areas impact just about every significant part of our life and having a weakness, or Blind Spot, in any of these areas can mean the difference between success and failure in our lives.
